Elders finally took me to the back room...
by OneDayillBeFree inafter several months of leaving the meetings as soon as they ended or only staying for "the first meeting" then leaving the "second part", the elders finally cornered me at last night's meeting.. they said they were concerned about me and that being that i am a young brother in a recently divided congregation they saw so much potential in me to help out the congregation and become a ms.. i told them i was thankful for their thinking of me to help the congregation but that at the moment i could not due to my job.
then the began asking personal questions that got on my nerves.. they asked where i worked and how much i made.
they asked if i was going to college and what i was studying and for how long.

What used to annoy me the most about commenting was the parents that instructed
their toddler to answer usually a one or two-word phrase.
I remember when I was about 5 and my mother tried to make me answer. I was instructed
to say yes, but when I got the mic, I said no. That seemed to fix things.

April 15, 2013 Watchtower - p. 22-26: Organization-Obsessed Much???
by sd-7 inthere's a study article "make sure of the more important things", and in no uncertain terms the article makes clear that "jehovah's organization" is the most important thing.
the term "organization" or "jehovah's organization" is used a whopping 24 times in the article, including a subheading titled: "follow the example of jehovah's organization".
i thought organizations were entities, but that sort of subheading makes it seem like the organization is one giant person whose example we can follow.

Has anyone really looked at this photograph carefully? I transferred it to photoshop to
get a better look...trying to figure out what's behind the old geezers and what that
circle thing is to the left? It's kind of creepy when you zoom in. I'll try and post
it here....

Did you ever have any real weirdos ? in your congregation who were Elders ?
by smiddy in.....some of the things he did and got away with , to me now is unbeleivable , and maybe to you.. in all fairness he was well versed in the bible and very clever how he used it to put a critic to rest at the doors and in one instance when i was witnessing with him , he demoralised a pastor of his church .and i was impressed at that time.. but he had some strange ways , he was always looking for someone to break gods laws so to speak .he did set himself up as the policeman for enforcing gods law on the congregations .
( this is my description ) he was known to stand outside bros/sis.
homes to see if he could find something incriminating against them .

There was the REALLY weird family that moved in when I was in my teens. He was an elder but
was really mean. I remember they asked me to babysit once, a boy and a girl. The boy was
a right terror and the girl was not allowed out of the bathroom as punishment for something.
I remember I commented on her pretty hair, and the mother snapped at me for complimenting
her daughter as it might swell her head. I called my mother and asked if I should let the girl
out of the bathroom. I was really bothered by it. I finally did and they weren't too pleased
when they got home. They never asked me back again, but honestly, I wouldn't have gone
back. It really creeped me out.

I tend to agree with Lisa Rose...I was raised as a JW and I have battled my weight pretty much
all of my life, managing to get it under control in my mid-twenties. I found that the exercise made
me feel better, hence, my self-esteem was brought up. But you've got to realise this isn't just
your problem. You can't make someone work out or eat healthier or less portions. It sounds like
your wife may be suffering from a bit of depression and perhaps going to her GP to discuss her
options might work. Prozac did wonders for me. :)
I have been dating a wonderful man for two years...when we go out, he notices the looks that
I get from other men but he is confident in our relationship and I make it clear that I am not
interested in anybody else...ever. That's the best you can do to deal with the insecurity..and
believe me, I've been there.
It sounds like you're a great husband. There should be more like you.
Good luck.

Obamacare and how it affects JWs
by Rattigan350 inwhile i think that obamacare is bad for forcing people to get health insurance by penalizing them for not having it; it is going to hit jws hard.. so many brag on the assembly parts that they quit corporate jobs to pioneer, but they don't get insurance after that.. there are many that are pioneer couples or single pioneers that are just doing small jobs like cleaning that can't afford insurance, so they don't get it.
they will want to be obedient to caesar and have to get it next year, straining their budgets.
or if they don't get it, they will have to pay the penalty.. we will see how that plays out next year..

They should do..I'm tired of paying so much. I just took a huge hit on my paycheck...between
the payroll and tax and my insurance switching, I am paying $75 a paycheck. When does it
become too much? I realise that taxes are mandatory and I have no problem with paying them,
but EVERYTHING is going up. I'm ready to head over my own fiscal cliff.
